Cricket Ireland announced on Friday that India will play a three-match T20I series in Ireland in August of this year (March 17). India recently visited the country for a two-match series in the shortest format, which the visitors won by a score of 2-0.

The brief series will be contested at Malahide from August 18–23. Ireland will host Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series in May in Chelmsford before hosting India. Ireland needs to win the series, which is a part of the ODI Super League, in order to guarantee automatic qualification for the major competition later this year in India.

Ireland will travel to Zimbabwe in June to play in the World Cup qualification if they are unable to defeat Bangladesh. Ireland is currently on an all-format tour of Bangladesh. After that, they will go to Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series.

The ODI Super League matches were moved to Chelmsford in Essex as a result of the weather in Ireland, according to Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland.

He stated, "While they are home matches, we've made the decision to play the fixtures in Chelmsford." "We will be taking on Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series that offers us a shot at World Cup qualification." The justification behind this is generally around boosting our possibilities playing the three matches - as the need might arise to play and dominate the three matches to qualify.

"After careful consideration, we came to the conclusion that this strategy gave us the best chance of qualifying automatically, especially since the matches must be played before the World Cup Super League deadline in mid-May. We require a location with the best playing conditions and weather patterns to minimize the effects of rain. Sadly, unless April is exceptionally dry, it is likely too early in the Irish season to prepare pitches to ODI standards.
